Motivation Activity

In this activity, students will be asked to share what they already know or have heard about anaphylaxis. They will be read a story in which a 15 year old girl died from an allergic reaction and then be asked to share any other stories they may have heard or know of.

Ask students to take about 3 minutes to jot down what they have heard or learned about anaphylaxis. After the time is up, the teacher will lead a discussion on the thoughts that were written down. The class will compile one poster of their ideas and revisit the poster at the end of the lesson.

After the discussion, the following paper is read to the students: Practical Advice for Teens With Food Allergies
