Bioluminescence is the chemical process of illumination induced by a living organism. Among the well known exhibitors of luminescence are fireflies and jellyfish. But there are other organisms that emit light as well. These include mushrooms, glow worms, deep sea marine life and marine algal blooms, rendering glow in the dark shorelines.
This series of lesson will introduce to the creatures that create bioluminescense, why they create it and how they create it. Humans have found a number uses for the chemistry of bioluminescense.
