Bioluminescence is a biological phenomenon that covers several aspects of biology and chemistry. The goals of this is exercise are:
- To learn about the kinds of organisms use bioluminescence
- To understand why those organisms would expend the energy to light up
- To understand the chemistry of bioluminescence
- To learn how we humans have benefitted from bioluminescence commercially and in the research
